Obituary for Donna Harrington (Blythe)

Donna Harrington (Blythe)
Donna Blythe Harrington, 64 entered her heavenly home on Sunday, October 7, 2018. She was born March 6, 1954, to the late Henry and Clifford Blythe of Mineral Springs. Donna was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Lane Harrington.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Natalie, her son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Cecily Harrington, and her two beloved grandsons, Hunter and Tucker Harrington. She is also survived by her siblings; Marilyn Blythe Wooten, Perry and Beth Blythe, and Patti Lemmond (Butch Rollings), all of Mineral Springs. Her nieces and nephews; Haley Wooten Robinson, Alexandra and Samantha Blythe, Travis, Kayce and Kolbi Lemmond.

Donna was a lifelong member of Mineral Springs United Methodist Church. As a child, she enjoyed singing with Mineral Springs Youth Choir, which traveled over several states sharing their witness through music. This experience proved to be one of the major influences in her life. It was in this church that she married the love of her life, Harold, on June 25, 1977.

Donna graduated from UNCC in 1976 with a degree in education. She taught at Bowman High School for two years, then moved to Monroe High School where she spent thirteen years. Donna loved teaching and was a favorite of her students.

In 1982, Harold and Donna began their own company, Harrington Grading, for which Donna provided the office expertise. She and Harold enjoyed the fruits of their labors until his death in 2003.

In 1989, Donna and Harold bought a home in Cherry Grove Beach, South Carolina, and Donna left her teaching career to provide full-time family and business needs. This made is possible for them to enjoy weekends at the beach, which became a family favorite.

A celebration of life will be held at Mineral Springs United Methodist Church, 5915 Old Waxhaw-Monroe Rd, Monroe, NC 28112, at 11:00am, Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Burial in the church cemetery will immediately follow. The family will receive guests following the services in the church Family Life Center.

Memorials may be made to Mineral Springs United Methodist Church, 5915 Old Waxhaw-Monroe Rd, Monroe, NC 28112.

The Family wishes to express sincere thanks to Hospice of Union County and to dear friends, Pasty Ballard, Robin Connelley, Anne Broome Conner, and Carolyn Tyer.
