Obituary for William Clontz

William Clontz
William Melvin Clontz, 85 of Monroe, passed away at Atrium Health-Monroe surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 20, 2018, after a long battle with polymyositis.

His parrents were the late Richard Eliam Clontz and Essie Baucom Clontz.

Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Gordon Funeral Service 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.

He is survived by his loving wife, Blanche Hinson Clontz. Together they have two sons, Mitchell Clontz and wife, Beth Plyler Clontz, Roger Clontz and wife, Susan Bracken Clontz; one daughter, Denise Clontz Beaver, and husband, Bobby Beaver; seven grandchildren: Devin Clontz, and wife, Tiffany Coffey Clontz, Allison Clontz Richardson, and husband, Alston Richardson, Shannon Clontz and wife, Heather Honeycutt Clontz, Ryan Clontz, Aaron Beaver and wife, Kristen Shaffer Beaver, Grant Beaver and wife, Tara Simpson Beaver, Galen Beaver and wife, Kerry Felger Beaver; 14 great-grandchildren: Ava Clontz, Hailey Clontz, Casen Clontz, Cadence Clontz, Kendall Clontz, Holden Richardson, Harper Richardson, Cormic Richardson, Cannon Richardson, Noah Beaver, Ansley Beaver, Silas Beaver, Oliver Beaver and another baby girl due in September.

In his 67 years of marriage to Blanche, they built a home in the community of Unionville where he was born and raised. A loving husband, father and friend, Mr. Clontz always showed Jesus's love to those he met. He was an avid gardener and loved to give his produce away to the neighbors. As a Boy Scout Master, he lead 18 boys as they earned their Eagle Scout Award. Mr. Clontz was a storyteller, often sharing his childhood memories with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He retired from Yale-Norton, and continued a few more years with McGee Corporation, eventually spending his days in his beautiful yard and garden.
