Obituary for Michael Page

Michael Page
Michael (Mike) Gene Page passed away suddenly at his home in Waxhaw, NC on April 4th, 2018. Mike was born to Jean Tucker Page, formerly of Monroe and Frank Oliver Page Sr., formerly of LaPine, OR.

Mike grew up in Monroe NC, graduating from the home of the Rebels at Monroe High School in 1981. He proudly served for six years in the US Naval Submarine Service as a Nuclear Trained Machinist Mate which included time on board the USS Tinosa.

Mike married his high school love, Marty Miller of Monroe in 1986. Their deep love, respect and admiration for each other carried them through many difficult and beautiful adventures. Mike and Marty bore two children, Caitlin Kristan and Joshua Michael. Caitlin and Joshua were the loves of Mike’s life and his greatest accomplishment. Mike’s most God given talent was his ability to parent. He was natural. He was good. His love will be felt for generations to come.
Mike was the owner-operator of Operation and Maintenance Specialties of Monroe, NC. He leaves behind a group of loyal, hardworking employees - his work family who stayed with him through thick and thin. Mike is also survived by his brother Frank Oliver Page, Jr. of High Springs, Florida and two sisters, Barbara Ann Ridgeway of Carson City, Nevada and Gayle Block of Washoe Valley, Nevada, as well as his brother, Mark Page of Orlando, Florida.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents and brother Norman Page formally of Ereswell, Oregon.

Mike was active in the Waxhaw community. He was a neighbor and a friend and the first to volunteer to help. Mike was active with Waxhaw Boy Scout Troup 53. He mentored many young boys into manhood through his love of Scouting. These men, including his son Joshua, were guided through the Scouting ranks with Mike’s extensive knowledge, wonderful sense of humor and his kind heart. This will be Mike’s legacy.
Mike proudly graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a degree in Mechanical Engineering after returning from the US Navy. His work ethic was strong and showed in all that he did. His successes were not of luck or coincidence. Mike’s accomplishments were from hard work and a never-ending drive to always do better and help others.
Mike leaves behind adoring nieces and nephews, loving in-laws, and a great community of supportive friends who became his chosen family. Mike will be painfully missed but never forgotten. He has left us with the tools to carry on and the love to share, just as he would want.

A memorial service honoring Michael Gene Page will be held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1510 East 7th St., Charlotte, NC on Wednesday April 11, 2018 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow.
